Military operations in the Turkish town of Cizre continued on Sunday as security forces clamped down on Kurdish militants. Cizre has been under curfew for more than a month. Clashes between security forces and PKK fighters are still being reported.
On Saturday 12 militants were killed in Cizre according to an army spokesperson.
And in Diyarbakir, the biggest city in the mainly Kurdish south east, protesters were dispersed by water cannon.
Earlier a court had remanded in custody two suspects in Thursday’s truck-bomb attack on a police station that killed six people.
The region is seeing its worst violence between the autonomy seeking PKK and the military in decades since a two-and-a-half year ceasefire collapsed last July.
