Armenian army suffered heavy losses after recent strikes from Azerbaijani armed forces, but tries to hide them, said Defense Minister of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov at the meeting with newly-appointed Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan Aurelia Bouchez.
The minister said in recent days, the military and political leadership of Armenia, intending to take advantage of the complicated situation in the region, has attempted numerous diversions along the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenians troops.
"The Armenian people have become hostage of the country’s leadership,” noted Hasanov.
Hasanov regarded the ongoing Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict as a major threat to stability in the region.
Then the minister noted the work done for the strengthening of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and France and huge contributions the two countries have made to the regional stability. Hasanov wished the ambassador success in her diplomatic activity.
Expressing her gratitude for the warm welcome, the French diplomat emphasized broad prospects for the development of cooperation in various fields between the two countries. The ambassador said she will spare no efforts for the enhancement of bilateral relations during her term of office.
The sides also mulled prospects of Azerbaijani-French relations, enhancement of military, military-educational and military-technical cooperation, use of technologies in military and space industry and expansion of cooperation with a number of companies producing defense products.
Moreover, they exchanged views on training of military experts of different specialties, exchange of experience between the experts of the armed forces of the two countries, organization of French language courses, working meetings and other issues of mutual interest.
