UK travel agency plans tours to Azerbaijan's occupied territory

Regent Holidays, a travel company based in Bristol, England, is planning new group tours to Azerbaijan's occupied region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Two tours are scheduled for May 6 and August 28, 2016. The trips will begin in Armenia and last 11 days. Visits to the cities of Shusha and Xankandi (Stepanakert), the Gandzasar and Dadivank Monasteries, as well as the Mayraberd and Tigranakert fortresses are included on the tour’s itinerary, according to Armenian public radio.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has said that the trips are illegal. A spokesman for the Ministry, Hikmat Hajiyev, told APA news agency that the Azerbaijani Embassy in the United Kingdom will inform the country’s state bodies of the illegal activity of the travel company and take the necessary measures in this regard.

Regent Holidays does not organize trips to Azerbaijan.
