Turkish Standards Institute audits Baku Oil Refinery

Turkey’s Standards Institute (TSE) held an audit at the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, read a message from Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR posted Feb. 22 on its website.


Salim Celebi, head of the TSE office in Azerbaijan, said a group of auditors during five days checked the compliance with standards in various structural units of the refinery.


"The work on modernization of technological installations, reconstruction and building of new facilities at the plant was evaluated quite highly,” said Celebi. "Minor shortcomings were eliminated in a short time.”


The modernization of the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery will be completed by late 2018, and afterwards, the refinery’s processing capacity will rise from 6 million to 7.5 million tons of oil per year.


The modernization is estimated at $1 billion.
